The Red Bag Pathway
Providing the personal property carrier (PATIENT BAG) for care homes and hospital trusts as part of the Red Bag Pathway
The Versapak Patient Overnight Bag has been designed as part of the NHS Red Bag Pathway scheme and is a high quality, hard wearing, durable bag for holding standardised medical information, medication and personal property of individuals when they are being transferred between their care home and a hospital. Standardised paperwork is critical for ensuring all stakeholders (Nurses, Doctors, Carers) have the necessary information concerning a patient such as general health and current medication. What's more, the Versapak Red Bag now incorporates VersaShield, Antimicrobial Technology, which actively reduces the colonisation of bacteria such as MRSA & E.coli.
The Red Bag Pathway is particularly useful as it reduces the strain on medical services by minimising the time taken for ambulance transfer times, A&E assessment times and reduces the number of avoidable hospital admissions. It is also designed to fulfil the requirements on the NICE guideline NG27: Transition between inpatient hospital setting and community or care homes.
Versapak Red Bag Pathway Scheme in the Royal Borough of Greenwich / Bexley
Following the successful pilot scheme in the London Boroughs of Sutton & Kingston, Versapak, in collaboration with the Commissioning Manager for South East London CCG, delivered tools and education to drive the message. Stephanie Watts commented saying:
"Thanks to Versapak, we have been able to promote the Red Bag Pathway at event stalls in hospitals within our borough."
